As Flagstaff’s traditional New Year’s Eve symbol for years, the Great Pinecone hoisted atop the historic Weatherford Hotel is to Flagstaff what the glitzy giant ball is to New York City. Each year thousands of holiday revelers pour into the streets of historic downtown to see the 70-pound, six-foot, lighted aluminum creation.
